Meet Mrs. Raney

The 2017-2018 school year will be my third at Elsa England in third grade and my tenth overall as a teacher.  I grew up in Dallas, but ended up in Kansas City after attending the University of Missouri (go Tigers!) and earning my degree in elementary education.  I taught 5th grade for seven years before moving to Austin, but I think I found my true love in teaching 3rd grade!  I also have a master's degree in reading from Northwest Missouri State.

I met my husband, who teaches 4th grade at England, while we were both attending Mizzou.  We will have been married for six years in November.  We have a one year old son, Isaac, and a dog named Bowser.

I believe that students (and all people, really) learn best when given the chance to work hard, think deeply, and solve problems creatively.  In third grade, students will be given many experiences for them to take advantage of.  Students who are willing to fail forward, keep an open mind, and look for opportunities to help others through our work in class will be very successful in third grade...and beyond!

Third graders, my goal is YOUR success.  It's going to be a great year!
